A good cheap restaurant serving authentic Vietnamese food at a low price. The people who run this restaurant are Vietnamese, or at least they were speaking Vietnamese in the restaurant. They also do Chinese food, but the Vietnamese specialities are clearly indicated in the menu. A good local restaurant right on Deptford High Street.
It is very difficult to find reasonablly priced and decent Oriental restaurants even in London, so of course there are hardly any good ones outside the capital of UK. "Veit Rest” has been recommended as acceptable so I gave it a go. I liked their salad: very fefreshing, honest but little too sweet. Pho's favour of the bloth was not good enough, very plain or flat, so I did not finish it. Cha Nem was ok but burnt on the ends and only chopped lettuce was supplied with it. Beef on noodle was also ok but again the garnishing was only chopped lettuce. Their lower ground floor was really strange... Karaoke or party venue? When we visited a man was playing an electric guitar very loudly and it was dominating the entire restaurant's atmosphere. Why...? All in all, for the price, their food quality, odd decor, music, casualness acceptable. They are not open after 10pm, it is really a casual eatery so "order, quickly dine and go” sort of place. They do take aways, too.
