My fiancé took me here for a valentine's day dinner on Sat (one day before vday) because they are closed on sunday. So first tip, make sure you know which days they are open cuz I heard they only open for around 3,4 days a week. When I got out of the cab, I didn't notice this place at all, and when my fiancé pointed it out, I was a bit disappointment. It is tiny and has not much decoration from outside. But when I walk in, the arts on the wall are really interesting and unique. They have a regular menu which has a lot of options of salad, pasta. We overheard from the next table that they had their best pasta here. But we didn't try those, and decided to order from their special daily menu which depends on what fresh ingredients they got from farmers markets or organic stuff from grocery store. For that day, we ordered, seafood coconut curry soup ( similar to thai curry, but more watery, lots of seafood), kale salad with grilled pears/cashnuts (excellent, very refreshing), lamb chops (perfectly grilled to medium, they put very simple seasoning for to bring out the natural flavor, I guess that's all you need for a great piece of lamb), the cod with tomato saffron sauce (huge chunk of cod with nice flakes, for such a large portion of fish, I was so supprised to see it was priced at 19.95....gush, I need to go back already!!). During our dinner, a few people tried to walk in, and were turned away. The place only have about 8 tables, so second tip, make your reservation!! Last but not least, the waiter is so nice. I think he is one of the partners. He was always attentive, gave us good advice on the portion size and where I can get those fresh grocery. Did I mention it's BYOB?? In the end, he even gave me a paper bag to take my wine back. Anyway, this is officially my favorite place after I moved to 110th. I will be back!.
This is such an awesome local place. Easy to miss it in a small mid block location on a kind of weird stretch of Amsterdam but DON'T MISS IT! The food is really incredible. Local, healthy, fresh, but not health food. I always go for the specials and have never been disappointed. BYOB is awesome, obviously. Service is wonderful. MAKE RESERVATIONS! It's very likely you will be turned away if you don't. This is a very popular local spot. I hope it never changes and never closes!
This cozy, sixteen seat eatery is tucked away in the middle of the block between W. 103 and 104 Sreets on Amsterdam Avenue in NYC. But what a great find when it comes to enjoying the freshest of food prepared in the healthiest, tastiest way. I could go on about Buster's preparation, but better to google "busters, nyc" for a real rundown of Fidel and Glenn's philosophy and mission towards serving their patrons' meals in the best way possible. They really practice what they preach, and you are in for an additional treat by experiencing the most cordial and comfortable atmosphere and service provided by these two gentlemen. BYOB and discover that Fidel never misses a beat when the next glass of wine must be poured at your table.
The place is so small that without reservation there is a good chance not to get a table. There are 18 seats, 1 waiter and 1 cook. The service is extremely friendly, nice and professional. There is a good choice of food, made fresh to order promptly. We had a very good seafood stew over thin spaghetti, a fine piece of perch over a rice-like cereal and a so-so burger. Everything was good, well executed home cooking. The prices are reasonable. BYO
