We wanted to eat off the square in Montmartre and came around the corner to find htis delightful restaurant with a wine list that is amazing. The food was excellent, too, from curried chicken on a salad, to a regular-but-very tasty garden salad, to grilled chicken that was juicy and succulent and very flavorful. Sofie was our server, and she was very knowledgeable on the wines and made an excellent suggestion based on our likes and budget. She was also charming and gracious. Because of our lvoe of wines, we met the director, Patrick Fracheboud who was also very charming. You can sit inside or out on one of the quieter streets of Montmartre not far from the artists' square.
There were 70 of us and in another area beside us there was an equally large party being entertained to a stage show! The food was good especially the French onion soup which was delicious. the location is good in Montmartre which has a lovely village feel to it. Probably worth a visit if you're in the area.
We shared both a charcuterie plate and a cheese plate. Selection of cheese was particularly good and the bread was fresh and crusty. The restaurant is in a quieter part of the artist scene. We sat outside, however inside is nicely decorated and very spacious. When the owner was not busy enticing customers he spent time chatting to us and kept us well amused and looked after.
While Montmartre is crammed with tourists during the day, it really quiets down at night. Once the sun goes down and some of the shops close, the old romance of Montmartre returns. Fortunately, La Bonne Franquette remains open well past sundown. The service is friendly, and especially so for tourists, which can be rare in Paris. The drinks are cold, the smiles are warm and the food is good. Take a break from the hectic sightseeing in Paris, grab a table and enjoy.
