We found this little place on a walk from the Champs de Mars to Rue Clare one day. We wanted to stroll Rue Clare and get some food at the markets for our apartment but we were all starving and couldn't wait to eat. We tucked into Le Den and had a delicious pizza and antipasto salad. There is obviously tons of great food in Paris, but the Pizza here is excellent. While we lived in Paris for 3 months, we'd return to le den whenever we were craving pizza. I wouldn't suggest dinner, it doesn't have that ambiance, instead it's more of an easy, quick and yummy lunch spot.
Chose Le Den after it was highly reviewed on Trip Advisor. Was advised to book and when we got there at 7pm it was empty. Had a mixed salad to begin with which was ok. Then I had the margherita pizza which was very dry, I like my pizza's thicker which just might be my personal preference. My girlfriend had the carbonara which was very nice albeit very creamy and rich. Overall it was "ok" we were in there less than 30 mins, is more of a quick bite to eat place rather than a restaurant you dine at for the night. Manager and the worker could have been more welcoming, barely smiled throughout the time we spent there.
After walking by here one day and smelling the food (which smelled delish) and seeing the jampacked restaurant we decided to head over for an impromptu dinner. From the start, everything was confusing and weird. First of all, no white wines by the glass. We were told that this is because the white wine they have is very expensive to buy (... so buy some few different ones, maybe?). Fine, we dettled for rosé. The pours were absolutely sub the legal 12cl pour. Next the waitress (/manager/owner?) kept asking us literally every minute what we wanted to eat. Harassment much? Once we were ready to order, half the menu items weren't available (on a start of dinner shift in a place that supposedly makes everything in house...?). OK fine, by this time we should have just left. But we didn't. Our bad. Another weird thing I noticed: different names on the facade, on the menu and on promotional tools across the restaurant. I had a hard time figuring out where we were exactly. Anyway, about the food. We shared a Caprese salad for starters: unripe tomatoes, tasteless mozzarella, bleak salad. For main courses I had the linguine with pesto. Honestly: supermarket quality. So sad. My mom had the vegetarian caneloni which were slightly better. But not much. If really they make their products in house they need to hire a new chef. Although I think most of the problem stems from poorly sourced ingredients. In any case it was very disappointing. A true tourist trap in our beloved neighborhood.
