Here is a Japanese (Kyoto) traditional high-class Ryokon and restaurant. Especially there is famous of "Kawadoko". Please make a reservation before visiting. The access is quite annoy and far from the downtown in Kyoto. And there is far from the nearest train station. But if you were more than 2 people, Beniya picks you up (Need the reservation). The course (foods) is Japanese traditional tea-ceremony dishes (Kaiseki in Japanese). You can enjoy various healthy & natural dishes on a crystal river and in the great greens. The prices are of course quite expensive (from 7800yen). The taste isn't perfect for the price (I give 3.5/5), but you can enjoy great feeling and experience.
We came for the kawadoko (dining on a platform over the river). The location and environment was stunning and beautiful. However, the food was a letdown. The keiseki set was 10,000yen per person, but I've had much better food at lower prices. The set did include sashimi and a grilled fish, but we were hugely disappointed with the last dish that came to end the meal - plain rice! I would understand if the rice were served with the grilled fish or the small dishes, but it was not. Served at the end, we only had pickles to accompany the rice. Rice and pickles is not my idea of a keiseki meal. I've had much better Japanese meals elsewhere. Sadly, the food did not match the beautiful surroundings.
