They have moved to a new address at near Hua Lam Pong train station at #-Yek Mor Mee. Visited them recently and the owner is still running the kitchen and the food quality remains the same. Famous for fresh oyster omelet Tae Jiu style (Orr Suen), oyster on pancake (Orr Lua), baked thousand bones fish in black bean (Chi Kak), slight curry minced meat noodle with egg (Ba Song Kuew cha Nung). Sweet of course, their famous coffee or green tea ice cream. (If daring, try Durian).Overall, a still good Tae Jiu restaurant of the old tradition. My family has frequented his restaurant since his father time. Call 02-221-6025 if you cannot find the new place.
This is a family-run Chiu Chow style restaurant and the forth generation is now in charged. They used to locate somewhere near the Sala Daeng BTS station but now moved to China Town. The location might be a bit difficult to find and luckily the taxi driver called the restaurant to check on the exact location. I went there for dinner and had fried oysters with egg, deep fried shrimp balls, vermicelli with prawns, stir fried morning glory and durian ice cream. All dishes are perfectly cooked in the traditional way using wooden charcoal. The oysters and prawns are fresh, the shrimp balls are well seasoned and crispy. If you are a durian lover, the durian ice cream is a must for dessert. I have been to this restaurant for about 6 times in the past 9 years and I will definitely return when I am in Bangkok next time.
They always use fresh ingredients and cook in the old way. Believe it or not, they refuse to use gas ..... they still cook all dishes with wooden charcoal. So all dishes are as delicious as I ever eat during my childhood time. Strongly recommended.
Have been going to this restaurant since it was off Rama 4 Road & recently went to their shifted premises in Chinatown. Food is still good but don't expect super cheap prices. Our favorite dishes are - Crabmeat filled Cheong Fun, Mixed Yam Rice in Claypot, Oyster Omelette, Steamed Soon Hock (remember - u pay for quality) & their Fish Maw Soups (both starchy with crabmeat & fresh fish maw clear soup)... The wife likes their signature Fried Noodles with Ham.
