Was back here again today for lunch. Standard still very good, food presentation is nice, colorful & always so delicious. I had the beef cubes in black pepper sauce, meat is tender, timing just right. The fried cod with wasabi sauce is yummy, taste of the sauce just right, not over powering. The batter is crispy on the outside, cod meat inside very soft. Next we had asparagus with mixed veg, this is a vegetarian dish, presentation very colorful, makes the dish very appertising. I like the crunch of the lotus root. I also have poach noodles with crabmeat, the stock is very rich & tasty. It is value for money if you pay by Amex. Is 50% off. Only pay $65 for my lunch.
We went to the Tung Lok at Chinese swimming club yesterday night to celebrate a birthday. Most of the dishes were passable (spinach tofu, black pepper beef, sakura chicken soup, roasted pork), definitely not fine restaurant standards but passable. The fried rice was hard - as if the rice was undercooked (in a bad way) The noodles was soggy. Dissapointed with the food standards (sweet and sour pork and wasabi prawns) which are surprisingly low for such an established restaurant. Now the service was awful. The waitress did not speak mandarin nor english and sulked so much. The plates were not changed nor cleared. The tea was not refilled. Everything was just bad. Regret celebrating the birthday there! If you want service or good food you are better off going elsewhere. Read - Even hawker centres have better service!
