Similar to 22 Ships since they are sister restos, but the tapas at 22 Ships are better. Recommend the beef rib and quail egg toasties. Cocktail size is a bit of a ripoff (Sake Kid is size of redbull)
Being an annual visitor to Hong Kong, there's never really a shortage of places to eat, be it for local delicacies or something else from around the world. On my recent trip however, I made an appointment to have dinner to catch up with an old friend. She suggested that we try out Ham & Sherry @ Wan Chai. Always open to trying out new places, I thought, why not!? When we arrived, you could tell the place was buzzing. The crowds were there, the vibe was good and the deco was amazing! Unsurprisingly we couldn't get a table immediately, so we were asked (very professionally) if we minded a short wait, but in the meantime we could start off with a drink at their back bar connected at the side alley. We met Ryan, their very friendly Bar Manager and confessed that we never actually tried Sherry before(!) Ryan gladly obliged and explained to us the whole range that they carried, from the very dry to the other extreme, sweet like dessert wines. I opted for the 'La Guita' (very dry) and my friend went with the middle tiered range, '22nd SHIP The Lost Ship'. The bar appetiser, 'chilied popcorn' by the way, is dangerously addictive! Just as our drinks arrived we were then informed the only available seats for two was by the bar counter inside the restaurant. We did not mind. Not knowing what type of tapas to order at Ham & Sherry, we went with the excellent recommendations from the waitresses. We agreed on the assorted ham platter (excellent pairing with the Sherries we ordered); I also went with two dishes of Scallops and Beef, my friend went another two with the Octopus and Fish. Mind you it IS a tapas place, so dishes were ideal for two of us. The food was perfect. It was definitely filling and wonderfully made. Did I mention I am now a Sherry convert? The La Guita was really good. (Ok mind you I AM a Sherry newbie, being more of a whisky fanatic by default) and my friend also enjoyed her '22nd Ship The Lost Ship', a Palo Cortado selection. We ended up making enough 'one mo
