Good place to enjoy a whole variety of food. And take your best bottles of wine as there is no corkage. Try the sea food platter for starters and then inside in lovely meats. Depending how large your group is you can mix and match. Staff are very courteous. And they are good at guiding you o n the menu. And it's not overly priced.

Walking into this restaurant, you get a feel of an upmarket restaurant. It's not as posh or as pretentious as it initially appears and the atmosphere and view are both pleasant. One waitress was very pleasant, regularly attending to our needs and asking if everything was ok, The other waiters however seemed in far too much of a rush; the natural consequence: a dish was forgotten, and we had to ask twice for a drink. Strangely, the barman did not know how to make lemon and lime bitters (an aussie drink). Neither did he feel the need to look up this relatively simple concoction. The food was generally nice, but the fish (with the chips) was seriously overly salted (why we weren't given the option to salt it ourselves is a mystery). Later my penne pasta with pesto was a little on the salty side (perhaps the chef's tastebuds were off that evening). Otherwise, we were pleased with our food. The chocolate pudding was nice, but not "to die for" as our waitress suggested.

This was a friend's recommendation due to family connections and with the BYO option, its hard to resist. The booking for a table for 10 on a friday night was efficient enough, we were seated right away. The food is alright, and factoring the price, its absolutely not worthy to mention. The only saving grace for the menu is that there is something for everyone. My trouble with the establishment is the service. With an 20.30 booking and the kitchen closing at 22.30, we were rushed throughout our meal. For the "last call", before the kitchen closed, we were informed the special-of-the-day dessert orders needed to be placed. This was done by a few of my companions, but some also wanted to enjoy the option of the cheese platter to finish. Unfortunately, after the desserts were placed on the table and we had proceeded to try and order cheese, we were flatly denied. After speaking to our server, Rosette, though I am sure I am not remembering her name correctly, was not very receptive to the fact she only specified "special dessert" and the kitchen was closed, but the cheese platter was only available through the small plates/tapas prep area -which didn't sound like it was the kitchen- so I was thoroughly confused as why we were unable to order it. The manager, Sam, lent a sympathetic ear, but only stood there robotically saying "oh, sorry ma'am" over and over. I would not go back for the poor treatment and the less than enthusiastic response afterwards when I requested to chat with the restaurant manager. It has been two days, and I am still waiting to hear from them. Overall, my views on Shelter Lounge is the staff's main concern was to get out of work on-time and not about service or the food which seems to be entirely off point for a restaurant. Please do not patronize this establishment.

We live close to shelter and have thus been there many times. While dinner options seem bit pricy, quality is always high. Special recommendation must be their beef burger, which is cooked with angus beef, and otherwise served simple with bacon, and tomato/pickle/onions - smartly - put on the side. It likewise come with good fries. Fish and Chips are some of the most authentic you will find in HK, and generally Shelter Lounge has many seafood options, of high quality incl several types of oysters. Desserts likewise good, with many home made cakes freshly available. Only complaint is the noise level which at times very high (especially downstairs), and usual high prices for sparkling water 50cl 68hkd plus 10.....). Recommended!
