Visited this cafe on 12th April for late lunch at 2pm after visiting Old Mountaineers cafe for brunch soup which was dearer. The Sir Edmund Hillary Cafe & Bar just above the Sir Edmund Hillary Alpine centre and museum served really affordable meals from $5. This cafe serves the purpose of feeding the people who come to the Alpine centre museum to watch the documentaries and go back in history to understand the difficulties experienced by Sir Ed, Tom Fyfe and Graham Lowe and other mountaineers., We had the butter chicken pie for $5 which was ok, chai latte $5 and cheese, onion, tomato, pineapple toastie $8.50 which was delicious. Overall a good meal for 2 under $20. Location is excellent overlooking Mount Cook and other snow clad mountains. Good seating and prompt service with a smile from the young staff. Recommend this place strongly if you are visiting Sir Edmund Hillary Alpine centre museum and are looking for an affordable place to have meals.
