Biei is pretty sparse and few restaurants around - most of the inns/ryokans cater only to their own guests so you may find yourself lack of good food. Farm Restaurant Chiyoda comes to the rescue! The food here is actually not bad - steak is soft and tender, delicious beef at a good price. The recommended dish here is the stew - most of the Japanese ordered it, so don't miss it. Also can try the curry if you like it. After the meal, can walk around the farm. This place was highly rated by the Japanese on Google - which led us here. Not a bad palce to visit if you are in the area, but no need to come here specifically.
My beef stew was not bad but they over cooked my friend's steak... I should say they totally ruined it. I would say... It's not cheap at all considering the setting, the level of service and the quality of food.
This restaurant is small and we waited for 40 minutes during lunch time. The wagyu set lunch is reasonably priced, ranged from 2600 to 4000 yen, depending which type of beef you ordered. The wagyu is delicious, tender and juicy. Salad and soup is fresh, but taste so-so. Milk is not particularly good, I think there are more cheaper and yummy choices in convenience stores/ supermarket.
