This place offers great Japanese food. One problem, it is a little bit hard to find this restaurant. It is right across the Police station in Tumon. It is a corner building. Chinese restaurant on the ground floor. You can either park your car within the building's parking by entering at the side of the building (driving upwards), or you can take an elevator up. It is on the third floor. Tight space. Allot of locals dine at this place. Most tourist don't even know this place exist. Need to come early, because it can get crowded fast, especially at lunch.
Limited luncheon menu. Food is well prepared and reasonable priced. Service is decent. While I have visited Japan many times, I I have never lived there. This restaurant compares very well with numerous "neighborhood" restaurants I have dined at in Tokyo.
Green Door katsu restaurant is difficult to find, even though its on the main street of Tumon, literally across a street from the Tumon police station. Its located on the third floor of a nondescript building called Central Plaza. You enter through an open breezeway between Mac and Marti's cigar lounge and a Chinese restaurant, take the elevator to the third floor, turn left and walk along a corridor until you reach...well...a green door. Through the green door is a charming little restaurant, with tatami mats around large low tables, and a tiny bar. At lunch time, its can be crowded with locals (because outsiders can't find it) enjoying some of the best and least expensive Japanese cuisine on Guam. $12, for example, buys a donkatsu set: Japanese onion soup, delicious pork cutlet with sweet brown sauce on the side, rice, and salad. Fried shrimp lunches, chicken cutlets, and Green Door's unique curried hamburger cost about the same; the cold soba noddle lunch and the udon noodle lunch are less expensive. There is a small selection of beers, including Bud on draft, and its also open for dinner. It is closed on Sunday. If you enjoy Japanese style fried cutlets--or even the German equivalent of pork schnitzel--this is a really authentic and delicious version.
Delicious and traditionally Japanese "Katsu" (fried) dishes in this little restaurant tucked away in the heart of Tumon. More widely know as the "Green Door Restaurant" this establishment is a mom & pop type operation with a large following of repeat customers. Great, freshly made salads, fried tofu, Katsy pork cutlets, steak, Japanese sausages ... Hmmmm, getting hungry just writing about it!
