The capacity of restaurant is small there was a waiting, it's a Chinese restaurant most of the dishes are decent. Waiters are courteous service is prompt and you get a discount of 15% if you pay by Emirates NBD Credit Card.
The Monk is an ideal restaurant for the desi Chinese and Thai food - it makes no attempt to be authentic, and there lies its success to wooing the subcontinental target market. You will not regret ordering the Dan Mein noodles, Prawns in Celery & Chillies, Roast Lamb black pepper sauce. Their home delivery is snappy too. The portions are large, the menu has a wide variety and the prices are reasonable. Cost for a couple- AED 120 (if prawns are added).
Service - Horrible. When asked to get ice, the waiter simply said 'No', no explanation or anything, and walks off. Asked if we could have a thicker version of the dish and the answer was yet again - NO Food - Ordered the chicken with spinach with gravy. More like soup with expired spinach if you ask me. Atmosphere - Completely dead. No background music/ any form of comfort. Seating - Tables are put so close together, makes us feel like we were having our lunch with the group of people on the next table. Furniture is put so close, that with the heavy architecture of it - makes you feel like you are sitting in a cave.
