I went to Parrots because they have a sushi menu. I got a takeaway but I was happy with what I bought- much better quality that ocean's basket Hatfield which I had purchased the night before. So I returned the next day but tried out the ribs which I bought as takeaway, again I was happy with the portion and the food. so I returned the third time for sushi to take away but this time I had to wait for the order because the mall shops were closed- it was such a long long wait. I ordered myself a psycho jack cocktail which was amazing and enjoyed immensely. I am not sure if they recipe was correct because I have never had one but it was fantastic. My server seemed nice enough but I don't think I'd to to Parrots to dine there- it just felt cold. but I will most likely be ordering my takeaway meals whenever I am shopping in Menlyn mall
Was it a bad experience, I'm on the fence, but everyone is sooooo slow 15mins for 4 drinks just soft drinks and bottles that you have to take from a fridge??? Wasn't busy at all 6-8 tables but so many staff on? The worst thing was another table came in 5-10 minutes afterwards and received drinks and a food taken before us??? So I will not be returning.
As smokers, Parrots was always our favourite stop in Menlyn Shopping Centre. The new revamped mall offers a new looking Parrots, but still with a decent sized smoking area and the same friendly service and good food we were accustomed to!
Parrots Restaurant situated in front of Pick n Pay, in the New “Village” of Menlyn Shopping centre. Beautiful new surroundings, waterfall, tree ferns, a magical restful environment, a perfect setting to have lunch, after a hard days shopping. Drinks order taken , waited 20 - 30 minutes for drinks, many excuses. Ordered starters, was hard tasteless, cold and took an hour to get to our table. Ordered fish for my Blind sister, who is diabetic, has lost her sight, had two strokes and is wheelchair bound. Said we need the fish quickly as she needed to eat, with extra lemon. We could not wait for the Oxtail we ordered. After an hour 1 oxtail arrived, ice cold, more bones than meat. Sent it back to be reheated, said nothing about the quantity. The steak arrived, ice cold and looked rubber and that it had stood for hours, still no fish for Belinda. Waitress forgets cutlery, still no food for Belinda. 3 hours pass. Request to see a manager, she arrives, we ask for the vegetables promised, told rudely "you don't get". Waitress brings old reheated vegetables to table. Still no food for Belinda. Ask to see Manager, he listens turns and walks away. Ask waitress who is the owner, she says there he is sitting. Ask to see him, after 7 requests he arrives. He called us racists, fat, disgusting as we did not want to pay for this disgusting meal, we were trying to steal from him. Finally Belinda's fish arrives. Owners then starts swearing at us, but is standing next to Belinda who is Blind and just had a stroke 6 weeks ago. Then he tells us to pay and "Get out of my f.. Restaurant" . He screamed this at least 5 times. My Sister put the dry fish in her mouth and started vomiting, no one came to our assistance, and the owner sat and watched us. We finally got her into her wheelchair and left. WE PAID OUR BILL. If you are reading this, please do not support this restaurant, Menlyn shopping centre is a fabulous place to shop, if was my Blind sister's first visit, which turned into a night
