The food was typical Eastern European, well prepared and inexpensive. We were recommended by the Eco-Bike Tour down the street. This is not a "tourista" destination. Soups, goulash, sausages, roasts potato pancakes, and unlimited side dishes. The fresh beer is a revelation and a bargain at about $1.50 a glass. Try the Kozel, a dark beer unavailable in the USA. We returned several times.
We went here our first night in Prague at the recommendation of Taste of Prague's blog. It was packed with folks enjoying traditional Czech dishes and beer. It is a noisy, fun place that prides itself on making everything from fresh local ingredients. I think they thought it a bit strange that we ordered Rose wine instead of beer, but happily accommodated us. Service was quick, but we did not feel rushed. The house made sausage and potato salad were delicious. Don't miss the fried cheese, a local specialty. There have two or three locations. We went to the one in Lesser Town.
