Our driver recommended eating here after we spent the afternoon doing a temple tour. Lovely setting right on the river and an extensive menu. Food was average and staff weren't too interested in looking after us so kind of sat there waiting for them to finish on their phones. Saying that the food was pretty good and prices weren't too bad.
We went there to have a quick lunch. Our order was only two dishes big (crispy fish in sweet sauce and seafood coconut curry). Food arrived after 15 minutes and was of decent quality. Pricing was acceptable, no ++ policy here which is a plus. Service could be more friendly though. Overall, not a bad choice for a quick bite.
We turned for dinner at this restaurant, after a pleasant visit of Ayutthaya lasted all day, and before taking the night train to Chiang Mai (as others have noted, the railway station is very close). Being a bit tired of Thai food, we opted for grilled steaks. Two of us chose the pork, five the beef. Side dishes: tempura (excellent), french fries, stir fried vegetables (excellent). Nothing to complain on the remaining food; but those (unfortunately, the majority) who chose the beef had to endure a really hard meat. I believe that the fault is on our part too: we should be cautious in ordering dishes foreign to the local tradition. The restaurant’s location is very nice, by the river. We were seated on a covered floating platform, the height of which varies, depending on the river’s level. I refer this feature because the walkway that connects the shore to the platform has a gap, which in the dark may be little visible, therefore dangerous. My sister in law in fact has fallen into the gap, and it was necessary to put ice (promptly provided by management) on serious contusion she suffered at her leg. Fair bill for seven people: 2410 THB.
