Very quiet when we turned up. Ordered pizzas and drinks and after 15 minutes were informed that it would be another 30 mins at least before the pizzas came out as they were serving take away people!! Pointed out we were there first but didn't matter and got offered some very small bits of garlic bread as compensation. Asked for free drinks instead but they wouldn't do it. So take away gets preference over sit in diners and the manager couldn't care less. If hungry, don't go. If you like waiting and buying expensive drinks to entertain yourself, then you will love here. We left after 30 mins of waiting so didn't try the pizza. Went off and had a lovely meal at Longtable down the road.
I thought living here for three years on Samui, fine dining would give me no surprises. Most Italian restaurants here are mediocre at best to cheat the foreign tourists. Especially those with a good location inside a resort. But today I was wrong. Typically, food isn't one of the merits of Samui. Trust me. A local would know. But Ciccio was one of the best places for Italian cuisine on this island. From soup, anti pasti, pizza to pasta, everything was near perfection. It's reasonably priced considering it's located in a 5 star resort overlooking the busy street with a nice atmosphere. Give it a try. You just might come back again.
The restaurant is located in Choeng Mon and serves both Italian and Thai food. This should already warn you about the fact that quality may not be top, but we were tired and it was raining, so we tried our luck and had dinner there. The dining area looks clean and nice enough. Unfortunately, the food was mediocre as we expected. In fact my pizza was burned black, totally bitter and uneatable. The staff was friendly and they agreed to serve another one for free, but that was the least I would have expected. We drank some chardonnay with the food, but that too was nothing special. It is a shame because the restaurant is in a popular area and prices are definitely affordable.
