We live near Boat Lagoon and The Pantry has been our "go to" outlet for the last 11 months. Its stellar dish for us was always the Kao Soi Chicken and Kao Soi Salmon, a variation on the Chiangmai dish happily served by two friendly Changmai waitresses. Fast forward to three months ago - new owner, new chef and new staff. No smiles, calls made to order takeaway dishes not acted on, crispy noodles left off the signature Chiangmai dish. Result : Unhappiness. The Pantry is off the list.
We are staying at the Boat Lagoon for a week and we arrived at the Pantry on our first night about 830 pm and it was pouring with rain and the staff there were so welcoming to the four of us , I had the best Chicken Pad Thai , ever and we have been back for breakfast the last 2 mornings since we have been here and the food and service has been fantastic , it is only a small place but we have been made welcome each time and the staff are so much fun , we always leave with a smile on our face , and free wifi is always a bonus .
Staying nearby and within walking distance there were only a couple of Monday dinner options. The French place a few doors down was looking rather empty. No wonder after looking at the prices. Having had breakfast at The Pantry in the morning and being very happy with their offerings we decided to give dinner a go. Initially sitting outside I was coerced to go in when the waitress produced mosquito spray. We ordered from a most diverse menu and decided to do share plates. Each course was satisfying and well priced. We had Lebanese dips on toasted bread, a really good pumpkin soup, great croquettes which my wife commented were better than in Spain. In addition, the crumbed prawns were ok but overdone. All in all this place is a winner.
