My son took us there as a treat. It hasn't been open long and the main guy from Japan was over making sure that all was shipshape, he shouldn't be disappointed. The chef that night appeared to be from south Africa but spoke Japanese fluently and was very helpful in his advice. Who knew that you could do so much with a chicken. Really top quality although probably not that cheap either.
Not only does this become my favourite Yakatori in Hong Kong but possibly it becomes one of my Friday night "date night" retreats with the missus. Upmarket, sophisticated yet casual it's a great place to unwind after a hard week. Food is excellent, liver, heart, chicken oyster, Wagyu and pork belly all started and cooked to perfection by the single grill master. Sake menu is very good and offers upmarket and relatively inexpensive options. Reservation is a must but I will definitely be back .. Frequently ! To quote Dumb and Dumber "I like it a lot"
Yakitori done well. We sat at the counter and enjoyed the Omakase Course: 12 skewers of giblets and vegetables (yasai). Each course was introduced by a courteous and attentive waiter, under the watchful eye of the gweilo manager who impressed with his knowledge of the Japanese language and passion for food. Toritama also has a good selection of saki. Soya sauce ice cream was great.
