Simply the best deli in Egypt. My first time there. I had a veggie sandwich which was so delicious. Very well backed bread and fresh mozzarella cheese. The place is clean, people are so friedly and welcoming. The food is chemical and pesticide free, wholesome and really rich in flavor so expect to pay a little extra for that. Which is for sure is worth it. The place has a small garden with three or four tables. The weather wasn't so hot so I quite enjoyed it except for the flies. My advice for the management is to put some of those fly traps used for open spaces like gardens. I think that would help a lot.
I stopped in to grab a vegetarian sandwich for dinner on my last visit to Cairo - delicious! The harankash dessert-in-a-jar was also wonderful. I bought jars of eggplant chutney, harissa, red chili chutney, and onion jam to bring home with me and share with friends - they were all equally impressed! The produce and products sold in the grocery section all have very interesting stories - be sure and ask the staff about where they have sourced all ingredients from. There's a lovely seating area out back with tables in the garden. Wonderful to see commitment to local sustainable sourcing in Cairo. Will definitely be back on my next visit! At the time of this review, Bing maps is sending folks to the wrong location that is not in Maadi. Be careful! The owners at Ma7ali are working on this issue and have for the time being posted a photo on their Facebook page showing the correct location on a map of Maadi.
