The Ssambap here was decent enough and there were quite a lot of good banchan. The meat was not so great and could have done with being hot. The lotus root, garlic and octopus were all stand-out banchan, but the kimchi was too salty and not that good. In Korea, your kimchi is what marks your scorecard and this was a definite C.
N35°50.188' E129°12.887' We nearly mistook Sampo Ssambap for an antique shop, the hallway to the restaurant is full of old stuff. Collector’s hobby ran out of hand? However, it set the right atmosphere for enjoying ssambap, a delicious seemingly infinite array of mostly vegetable side dishes in September 2014. Although Gyeongju is not known for its food, we concluded that Sampo Ssambap serves excellent ssambap. Recommended.
