At the very least, if you call yourself a deli, you should sell a decent corned-beef sandwich. Our sandwiches had hardly any meat (try Segal's instead) and were SLATHERED in super hot mustard. I scraped off as much as I could and still had to spit it out because my eyes were watering (yes, really). Two sandwiches and three small side-dishes cost about $35.
Oh, I miss the Max's of yore. Decades ago, it was a real Jewish deli and it was fantastic. Now, it's a glorified Bread Garden. Their breads are of little choice and most things are extremely over-priced. I've lived a stone's throw away for 10 years and have only gone in there when "desperate and out of time" - and still come out with sub-standard food that I paid too much for.
This was a convenient place to meet someone from this area for lunch. I have to admit there were so many choices at the deli counter that it takes time to make a choice. Two sides of Max's Deli are occupied with deli counters. A lot of take out and a few tables but no atmosphere if you eat there. Food was not outstanding but good and fresh with generous portions.
