Da Piero is a cosy Sicilian restaurant with a lot of fish dishes on the menu. We ate the bruchetta caponata (eggplant) as starter. We also ordered spaghetti fongole with clams and mussels and squid ink pasta as a main. The first we received and tasted great, but we didn't receive the latter. Instead we received swordfish. We didn't feel like waiting for them to prepare the pasta we ordered, so we accepted the swordfish. All dishes were very tasty. Strangely we were charged for a more expensive bruchetta when asking for the check (3 euros more expensive). Including 2 glasses of wine and a bottle of water, the dinner set us back 50 euros. That's O.K. value for money.
Quality-price is not good. Food is OK but I was expecting much more for a restaurant specialised in fish and seafood. Service is terrible! While having my dessert the waiter asked me if I wanted the bill. They do not treat locals in the same way. Tourists, stay away!
Da Piero is a very popular place open for lunch and dinner. In the evening it fills up fast. Pasta was very fresh, as was the fish. If you like fresh octupus, they cut it up in front of you. Located right on the main piazza.
I ordered a plate of fettuccine with King's prawns worth €15 and got like 2 prawns. Risotto with seafood was better because there was actually seafood in it but it had very poor taste. Service very bad, I had to ask for everything and in the end got a check for €48 instead of €34. I doubt that it was not on purpose. Bottom line is don't judge a book by its cover. I got fooled by the nicest plates ever.
