A cool day, but sitting outside in a historic Roman port, eating Pizza. It looked soo good when I walked past that I thought I will have a slice of that. I had a full pizza Traditional.. Ham Buffalo mozzarella and tomato.. Bellissimo.. The place has a full menu including seafood... Cost was good, and a half litre of local white wine.. Highly recommend if here. A long way if you just wanted Pizza..
We decided to stop here by chance whilst wondering where to catch our last quick meal in Italy on the way to the airport. We were attracted by the Saturday street market in Fiumicino and this restaurant was right at the street corner. I asked if he had sardines and he brought out a plate of freshed cleaned sardines to entice me into his parlour - done deed! So he fried sardines for us and zucchini flowers (as requested) - made a super pizza margherita, bountiful seafood linguine, the obligatory salad once again & the calamari frites. A most satisfying last Italian meal on Italian soil! Not to mention the friendly brothers producing this lunch feast for us ....... Mostly locals popping by with us 5 obvious tourists ......
Like the previous review, I was out for a walk and passed by this quaint little restaurant with the owner in front. I stopped and chatted and noticed the prices were better at his restaurant than nearby ones. I asked how the food was to wit he modestly replied "the best". I told him I would return later for dinner. I am sure he thought "right, another American brushoff". I returned a few hours later and he was still standing in front. I was the only patron which always concerns me but I did promise I would return. I had fried calamari and spaghetti with clams. Both dishes with fabulous. SO many clams and the calamari was fried perfectly. I am a foodie and would recommend this place to anyone who wants great food at VERY reasonable prices. Manga
We were staying one night in Rome awaiting our flight back to the States the next morning. Having most of the morning and all afternoon to kill, we opted for a walk through the neighborhood. We happened upon this little pizza place; a man wearing an apron standing in the door watching the world go by sees us, smiles and says hello. We decided to go in... ended up having wonderful pizza and delightful conversation with the two men who owned the shop. They had come to Italy about 20 years ago from Greece with their families and had never left. While we were eating our pizza, one of the men could be seen cooking in the kitchen. Turns out, he was cooking their lunch which consisted of spaghetti and calamari - lo and behold - this sweet man brings us a sample plate of their lunch! The calamari was fresh and oh so delicious. We were blown away by the kindness and openness of the gesture. You just never know where an afternoon's walk will take you. Ours took us to an unexpected delight!
