In the Dutch quarter of Potsdam, this was a really good place to get German food. Everyone in our group of 9 was happy with their meal. The wait staff was a little slow, but that's to be expected in Germany. And enjoyed. I had ham and sausage with sauerkraut--the sauerkraut was worth the visit alone.
Excellent traditional restaurant, which was a recommendation from a local during our day trip to Potsdam. Would suggest booking in advance in Summer months as even in May the restaurant became really busy. This is really a traditional German restaurant with a Dutch twist to it. Service was both efficient and friendly. The food served is excellent and hearty but very tasty. Selection of wine was a bit limited but overall the restaurant is worth a second visit
Always worthwhile going down the side streets to see where the locals eat - and they clearly eat here. Plenty of tables outside but we chose to eat inside. The decor is simple, the menu modest in size (always a good thing) and the food excellent. A menu in English was offered. Three types of pickled herring with salad was a perfect sharing starter, followed by succulent pork stuffed with prunes together with red cabbage and potatoes and a mixed grill comprising steak, pork, turkey and crispy lambs liver served with salad and sauté potatoes. Beautifully cooked and served by friendly helpful staff. A good selection of 'open' wines but our request for a bottle of Weissburgunder proved no difficulty. All for just under €70, so excellent value. The restaurant was half full when we sat down at just before 7 pm and completely full inside and out when we left. And only German was to be heard!
