We tried this pizzeria after New Year's Eve, most restaurants were closed so we didn't had many choices: this was a pleasant surprise! A part from the pizza being delicious and the staff being very friendly, this traditional pizzeria spoiled us by serving us a welcome free fruit juice, limoncello, fruits, peanuts and cookies. It almost felt like a joke because they were being SO incredibly nice! We were really happy with our meal and I'd gladly come back!
We were five Americans, looking for lunch unfortunately when almost every restaurant was closed. After getting turned away from another restaurant, we happened upon Ristorante Nissar. The kitchen was just about closed, but he made an exception and was able to make us some pizzas. The waiter was the nicest waiter we had on our trip here in Europe. Seriously. He brought us good food almost right away, as we were starving. The pizzas were good. The only detraction was that it was on a busy street. However, the waiter was absolutely fantastic.
I am always embarrassed when I have to criticize a restaurant, especially after it has done more than it's duty for many years and asked us to pay much less than what it usually asks occasional customers who didnt come here as often as we do. Nassar is the owner of a restaurant / pizzeria who lost the formula for success which made us love it. What formula? A wide selection of starters, all of good quality, maybe even of great quality, a choice of excellent first dishes with produce specially bought for the day and then, usually, a mixed fish grill of great quality. All this generously sprinkled by great white wines...all for a cost of 25 euro, almost unbelievable! So what happened? Some waiters started thinking they were friends of customers so their approach became too friendly and less respectful; suggestions for first dishes were becoming more like take it or leave it offers and sometimes you ordered something but something entirely different was prepared or it was of terribly low quality and, last but perhaps more important, the lack of cleanliness was reflected in the dishes which reached the table with unintended objects that should not have been there...and this happened three times..so it's not an accident! Finally, waiting times (meaning time between order and 'food is ready' were becoming increasingly long so even spending 25 euro came to be a nonsense. It's a pity Nassar lost his magic. We hope he wonders why customers who ate there for 20 years and at least once a month, dont go there any more but until someone else writes a great review of them, I'd rather avoid it.
