The Cafe style restaurant offered a very nice setting to relax and eat during a long day of museum touring. Located between the National Gallery of Art and Natural History Museum is the Sculpture Garden; and within this, is the restaurant. Food is ordered and served as counter service. The menu is very broad with salads, hot & cold sandwiches, pizza and pasta. We had Montreal Beef Sandwich and a Pepperoni Pizza. Both items were tasty and better than typically offered in a quick lunch setting. Lunch items were all within the $9 - $11 range. The facility itself is quite modern and clean. Floor to ceiling windows offer a nice view of the sculpture garden as well as the skating rink which is set up for the winter. It appeared that there's a patio available for when the weather allows it. This will likely be part of our 'plan' the next time we're at the Smithsonian complex and need a lunch break.
A day of sightseeing and seeking an easy good place to eat. Found this in small place in the sculpture garden and was very content with the meal. Good food and we were able to find a small table for two. Enjoyed and recommend.
My husband and I stopped at the Sculpture Garden Restaurant for a late lunch on the Easter weekend in between visiting museums on the Mall. The restaurant had been recommended by a tour guide as being a place that had good food, that it was a bit like a French bistro and that you could also have a glass of wine with your lunch. It was exactly as she described. It was probably because we were there for a late lunch (around 3 pm) that we didn't encounter any lineups. We had quiche, salad and wine and enjoyed them on the patio. We'd definitely go back again.
