The Ritz-Carlton in the heart of historic Georgetown DC has a great lounge and bar area! Great place to go for drinks and even dinner without having to check in to the hotel! The hotel lobby is spacious with open seating areas and a large fireplace against one wall. This area is great for drinks and people watching, might even see some celebrities! Then just around the corner there is a long bar and table seating for many more, away from the lobby and check in area. We ate dinner at the bar, plenty to choose from. Fish Tacos, beef sliders, fried calamari and more. Speciality drink list, enough wines to choose from and selection of beers. Great collection of fine Scotch up on the wall behind our great bartender, John. Also a great place to go for late night drinks. Valet parking but $$. Bathrooms located nearby were clean and nice. My only complaint was I did not like the feel of the bar stools. When I leaned back I felt like I was sliding out of my seat. Expect to spend $50 per person with drinks. Three large screen TV's allowed good March Madness viewing!
We stayed at the Ritz-Carlton and dined/snacked in the Lobby Bar several times over the course of our visit. Service was always pleasant, food (we had the mezze and olives for a late lunch) and wine good. The prices are always high, but expected. The bar is spacious, and has various seating arrangements, including an area where one can pull up ottoman like footstools to sit with friends sitting on a couch. Can you see where I am going with this? One of the lovely waitresses took my order, turned around, walked a few paces and fell over the low stool, smacking her knee and breaking a few glasses. I felt very sorry for her, and so did not complain when her replacement brought me a glass of pinot noir instead of pinot grigio. Much later, someone must have noticed the mix-up, as I received my glass of pinot grigio. I also noticed the manager eying the footstools, so perhaps by now they have disappeared.
