This is the best place to grab a quick bite in D.C. I may be biased because it's a fast walk for me, but they do a great job combining delicious tex-mex and asian fusion flavors. Try the tex-mex egg rolls, and any combination of burritos or tacos. The pork belly bowl is also amazing and they have homemade tres leche cake and other desserts for sale as well!
Far East Taco Grille's truck was by far the most popular food truck at Franklin Park. My office overlooked the park and these folks always had the longest line. The food is always good - a tasty mix of Korean and Latin flavors. The value is great. Then they opened a carryout right around the corner from my house and it is a regular stop. They have another taco truck and a burrito truck and they recently opened a second carry out. They must be doing something right. Start with their basic choose your own ingredient tacos, then try their burrito bowls and burritos and keep moving through their menu. Call ahead if you are visiting the carryout. But don't worry if you're at the truck, the line moves quickly and is worth the wait. The only drawback - they aren't open Sunday.
So not your typical Mexican taco place, but in a really good way. They elevate the tacos and bowls with interesting flavor combos and somehow it works. Got the pork belly bowl and 3 tacos and friend ordered kimchi fries. Enjoyed everything. Portions are large, and it's fun to try a few things and share.
OK - first thing, this is not the best, upscale neighborhood. BUT, with that, we were there on a weekday evening about 9:00 and everything was fine. The food though, rocks! I am not a huge Asian fusion, spicy food guy. But, I had the pork belly bowl, and it was amazing! Enough so that the next time I'm in DC, I may make a special trip back to Far East Taco Grille. My wife had an Asian/Mexican type of quesadillas and my son had a wrap, and everyone enjoyed their meals. A couple of notes, not much space in this place. There were only four stools to sit at a small lunch bar, and one of the stools was broken. And, as I said, not the best neighborhood. So, we took our food and sat in the car over by Lincoln Park and ate. But, worth it. Go there.
