I went here for brunch. First thing is first, they need to figure out their hours. Online it says they open at 11am on weekends, but the posted hours on the front door say they open at 10:30am. The place was packed, given its location. The waiter was great, sarcastic (in a positive way!), and funny. The drinks were pretty weak, although it was a bottomless brunch. The main complaint I have is about the food I got. I ordered a sort of potato hash-breakfast scramble thing with lamb sausage, with an egg cracked on top. But the entire underside of the egg (whites and yolk) was completely, completely uncooked. I'm not a fan of eating raw eggs. But the lamb sausage was overcooked, dry, and shriveled. I have no idea how something can be overcooked and uncooked at the same time, but they managed to do it. To be blunt, the food was really bland (I'm not convinced they have salt or pepper in the restaurant kitchen) and forgettable. Given how many places there are to eat brunch in Washington, D.C., you can get a much better bang for your buck at other places.
The good news: the place takes reservations and, if you are at brunch, you get the table for two hours. There is a large brunch menu for drink and food selections. The bad news: "Bottomless" for the drinks is true if you order mimosas; beer and Bloody Marys? not so much. The food is unremarkable. No substitutions. Minimal service. Not once in two hours did the server ask if we needed anything. We had to get his attention for: water glasses to be refilled, for coffee to be served, for the sugar try to be filled, for drinks to be refilled. We stopped at &pizza on the way back to get a satisfying meal.
I've been here several times, but most recently for brunch. This place is one of the many DC spots honoring the local tradition of bottomless brunch. I've been there a couple times and am never impressed. The food is good, not great and the portions are average. While the drinks are bottomless and delicious, the service doesn't keep them very full and God forbid you ask for a beer- it'll take quite a bit. Overall it's a good location for post brunch hopping, and has a lovely rooftop, but certainly not one of the best brunch spots in the city.
