Went for an event held there. Beware of the stairs when you first walk in, you must go down a long flight of stairs to enter. I was impressed upon walking in, the setup is really nice, perfect lighting. The place was setup with only tables which seemed to require bar service, no stools at the bar or anything...maybe it's a D.C. thing but I did not like that at all. When inquiring about the seating arrangement, we were told that a bottle would have to be purchased prices starting well over $150. An overpriced bottle was purchased and a table was selected. As the night went on it became apparent that for this event it was open seating, hence no one bought bottles. This was the first red flag...can you say rip-off! Also an email was sent out about the event saying the time had been extended, however, when the original end time rolled around everyone was asked to leave, the DJ stopped playing music and the event ended earlier than what was communicated to those who purchased tickets. As nice as I thought the place was I would not return due to the dishonesty of the staff and the fact that they basically put paying patrons out before the agreed upon time.
Picture this, last Saturday, I was at Opera with friends for a birthday. The guys are in and out of the bathroom and each one of them through the night are complaining about the bathroom attendant and him trying to swindle money from them. I wasn't quite sure what they were talking about because I tipped him after I used the bathroom. Well, the last time I went to the bathroom the guy tried to swindle me as well. He told me that if I "wanted to do drugs in the bathroom that I needed to let him know so he could take care of me." He went on to say that he " worked closely with security" and pointed to his walky talky on his belt as if to threaten me. Naturally I told this loser off and he was out of his mind trying to bribe me and my friends for extra cash. I informed him he didn't know me, my friends, or what we were doing in that stall and to mind his own business and that I was reporting him." I've only been there three or four times but have spent a couple grand there in botttle service and could not believe this guy's nerve for trying to swindle us. I am so upset over this! I will never go there again and have nothing good to say about it either. I called the manager and complained the following evening about this guy. Hopefully he's looking for another job. Blackmailing us, really???
really nice and upscale place, good music mix throughout the week. the staff servicing the tables are extremely gorgeous and very polite. drinks are of a bit higher price segment, but i rather pay a bit more and have a decent crowd around. u won't have to drink out of plastic cups at Opera, unlike many other clubs in DC.
