Wanted to like this place. But it is not above average. Two of us had dinner on a recent Tuesday night. One of us had the chicken fajitas. Bland, with only a few small pieces of chicken. Definitely would not order again. Other person had the shrimp appetizer. She liked it. Then we split fried ice cream. Again, nothing special. One of us had a diet coke, one of us had a margarita. Total bill was $44.50 for two of us. Not very expensive, but frankly over priced for quality of food.
We ate here for lunch after a tour of the Library of Congress. We were tired and hungry and the menu looked good. First of all, the service left something to be desired. Our waiter was very iinattentive and slow. We ordered beer, and it was served warm. There is nothing worse at a Mexican restaurant than having hot beer! The food was okay. My seafood enchiladas were very good, but my husband's tacos and enchiladas were very bland. Being from California, we thought this food was a poor imitation of what real Mexican food should be. It was also very expensive for the price...even more so than other places around the Capitol. The restrooms are downstairs like so many other places in DC, but it is a long ways to go when one has to go. if it wasn't for the warm beer and uncaring waiter, we could have given this another star or two.
A short walk from out hotel we highly enjoyed our dinner here. Not flash, but good value. With two adults and a child we had a couple of drinks and mains for $60 plus tip. Definitely recommended for a satisfying, good value dinner out.
