Front desk staff are amazing. We have a king room with a private balcony over the street, looking onto the bay. The view is beautiful, but if you are a lite sleeper the noise may bother you. To us it was so much fun listening to all the street chatter that we kept our balcony door open. The hotel is right across a 7-11 and a subway. There's coffee in the lobby all the time. Rooms are basic but big and very clean. No fridges or microwaves in the rooms, not an issue for us. We were booked for 2 nites, but on a spontaneous decision decided to stay an extra nite, the front desk made this possible, but we would have to change rooms. Not to interrupt our sightseeing they would try and get the 2nd room cleaned and ready for us or they would transport our belongings. How great is that, Thanks to Steve for accommodating us for another nite. This place is a 2 min walk and you are right on Fisherman's Wharf, doesn't get better then that, but please if you are a luxury 5* person don't compare this Gem with a 5* with all the fancy amenities.
This Inn offers a great value for the money. Nothing fancy, but everything is OK. You even get free coffe all day in the office (important for my wife). Free parking! Before we stayed 2 nights in Zephyr, the room was for 2 days almost what a week at the inn costs, plus 50+$ a day for parking! And that's nothing special, the real exception it the inn with its free parking. The only downside we had was one evening when the main water drainage was blocked and we weren't to use the restrooms for some hours... (And not so nice things were floating out of the shower drain) but I guess that can happen in any place. Employees are extremely helpful. printed out the rental car voucher for me, no big deal, but at any luxury hotel you might get charged for that... Btw when we checked in a returning guest recommended the place with warm words.
Definately in need of updating, but bottom line it's clean, the bed was comfortable, lots of hot water, felt safe and parking was excellent. We returned one day when cleaning lady was in room, she stopped us from entry and wanted to check our room card to validate it was our room. We appreciated that. You cannot beat the location, steps to the Wharf, and if you really need a coffee/hairdryer or iron, you can get it from front desk. We were on street side and a couple nights it was noisy due to cleaning/delivery trucks and persons, but it was not THAT bad. If you don't mind dated decor, We recommend Wharf Inn.
