This restaurant was recommended by our hotel so we decided to give it a try. When we arrived for lunch, there was no one up front. We waited a while and then we were seated. The restaurant was about two thirds full but it was very unorganized and possibly short staffed. It was also a while before our waitress took our order. Once we got our food, it was good. The foccaio bread, margherita pizza, and spaghetti with meatballs were very good and the pizzas are baked in a wood fired oven. While the food was pretty good, the rest of the experience was not. I would try one of the many nearby restaurants before I would come here.
We were just walking down the street across from our hotel when we heard great live jazz and smelled delicious food! We were seated right away near the music, as we wanted. I highly recommend the artisan pizza, although everything we had, including the wine was wonderful! Service was spot on and the place is nicely appointed. Can't wait to return!
Had a show at the Fox next door so we chose Baraonda for dinner as it was my brother's birthday. We were a few minutes late due to traffic but were greeted and seated very quickly. We started with calamari which was also quick to table and good. The entrees were all nice portions and prepared well and we finished with an apple tart and tiramisu. A very good experience and will return.
Baraonda Atlanta (formerly known as Baraonda Café) is Italian with a casual café/bar side and more formal restaurant side, but overall casual. Located on Peachtree St. 1/2 block from the Fox Theater makes it convenient for the theater or a Midtown location. The menu offers appetizers, salads, pasta, wood fired pizza, and specials. While it isn't on the menu, I recommend the Foccacia Rosemary Flatbread for a starter. The Gorgonzola Salad is very good: mixed greens, gorgonzola, apples, dried cranberries, walnuts, and lemon honey dressing. The pasta and pizza dough is handmade in-house. All of the pasta dishes are very good; however, I recommend Paglia e Fieno, Ravioli of the Day, and Pappardelle. The wine list is somewhat limited but offers variety. Would not recommend the fish dishes based on 2 occasions.
Went in the afternoon pre graduation. Great server, wonderful gal. Had the calamari, awesome. Went back post graduation, and had a private room with the 14 of us. Server had a huge attitude. other servers were great (bus people). Food was wonderful, pizza (goat cheese, veal, fish of the day, and desserts). Too bad we didn't have the server from the afternoon, to do the private party.
