We ate lunch and dinner here. I learned that LA had passed an ordinance requiring only large hotels to pay staff $15.00 an hour. Needless to say this put this large hotel restaurant at an immense competitive disadvantage. Instead of closing, the staff was drastically reduced and everyone, including the management pitched in al all shared the work. Before I heard this the small staff was a concern as the place was busy. However, their teamwork was fantastic and the service was excellent. The food was great, served hot, and was a goof value. I would definitely eat here again.
Visited this gastropub as it was located on the ground floor of the hotel i was staying in. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, although due to the sweltering heat we opted to sit indoors. The indoor seating is pretty spacious. We ordered a couple of burgers. The vegetarian Bean Burger tasted ok and so did the Crab Cake Sandwich. The service was a bit slow, inspite of the fact that the restaurant was almost empty. An average experience.
This restaurant is integrated in the Doubletree Los Angeles Downtown. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner - I have only tried the dinner option. My first try was the Mediterranean Lamb Burger and I liked it a lot. The burger itself was nice and juicy and the sides worked really well with it. My second dinner there was the Black Bean Chipotle Burger. It was a bit disappointing compared to the lamb - nice enough, but not as juicy and delicious as the Lamb Burger.
