It's been on our bucket list for quite some time so we booked for Sunday brunch. We received a wonderfully warm welcome and shown to a table in a great spot. The weather was shockingly awful so there were no views but actually that made it better since it kept our focus within the room. The jazz band were marvelous, playing stuff from the great American songbook. You could eat as much as you like choosing from both the hot and cold buffets as well as from the menu. Amongst other things we had eggs benedict and must say we have never had hollandasie sauce as delicious at that was. Plenty variety of delicious food including a dessert table. Oh and the cocktails were devine - we tried 3 different ones! An expensive brunch by anyone's standards however a wonderful experience and a real treat.
We visited the Rainbow Room at 10pm on a weekend. The security guard at Rockefeller Center directed us to the correct elevator, and the usher on the 65th floor showed us into the bar area. All drinks are $18 to $25 apiece, but our two drinks earned us unlimited time in the breath-taking viewing areas around the outside of the lounge! There is a walkway that goes around 3 sides of the building, with some seating available. The lights and buildings of NYC are just so impressive from here! My understanding is that it costs about the same to take the "Top of the Rock" tour, and this bar is just a floor or two below that tour location - so I like the fact that we got a drink for the price, as well as the view!
