Five of us went for dinner last night and ordered off of the Dine LA menu, which has a wonderful selection in each of the three categories. Unfortunately, none of us could rave about the food. Everyone said it was good at best. Some dishes were very salty (the fennel with the branzino), some lackluster (the branzino). The rack of lamb was very good. Everyone enjoyed their dessert choice, and the coffee was excellent, flavorful and piping hot. We were charged for two coffees, when only one was ordered, and when it was pointed out to the server, his response was "would you like me to take it off the check." Did he really have to ask?
excellent food -started with and shared /best way > carpaccio manzo - tissue thin beef on green bed = spicy and calamaretti grilled on greens = spicy >main dishes of BEST RISOTTO Parmigiana and excellent Mare e Monti (black squid ink pasta with mushroom/ three 'natural' shrimp / table next sent it back in fright!/ shrimp tender and SWEET= incredible. Desert of chocolate was excellent while the crema was less than with no particular taste. Chardonay DeLeonardo wine was superb. Bottles are EXORBITANT! service was good but reminded 2x about spoon for pasta /no spoon was served with the pasta!!/ actual plate sizes were ENORMOUS / not the portions just the plate sizes (desert cup diameter 3"or less served on a 16" plate!!!! how ridiculous! ) very loud room / serving real 16" candles (high insurance with flame) - dinner for two with glass of wine and two beers = $180+ /had made reservation but when arrived nothing was slotted in and this after for an email and phone call, from them confirming. anniversary dinner ~
Food and service were pretty good, and this would have been a 4 Star review if not for the water issue. We were asked whether we wanted still or sparkling water, and we requested still. When the person came to pour, the water was in a bottle, and I asked if it was "LA tap" water. He said no, so I requested "LA tap". When our check came, there was a $20 charge for 2 bottles of water. I have been charged like that (expensive bottled water without being consulted) in the past, so was ready for it to happen. I requested that the charge be removed, and they complied. I won't go back to Adoteca.
Was greeted warmly at the door by owner/ host Paolo. Dine LA menu very clean type and easy to understand. Good selections & wait staff very attentive and on top of job. Started with 1/2 bottle 2011 Querciabella Chianti Classico. Reasonable restaurant price. Primi - Branzino Carpaccio was sublime with tiny dash of sea urchin roe & fresh green scallons. Perfect. Secondi- Lamb chops in mushroom sauce. On the whole decent. Maybe a bit overly agressively salted but that not withstanding solid dish. Mashed potatoes & vegetables were well done and nice counterpoint to lamb. 3 double chops which were plenty. Dessert- Creme Carmel, was absolutely delicious and intensely creamy and not over sweet. Espresso well done. Over all very good meal and wonderful staff. Pros- Branzino Carpaccio, Staff, Wine list. Cons- Piped in music which seemed bit loud & at odds with total atmosphere. Certainly one of the best Italian in city.
