Every single delicacy in Furano Bakery has been lovingly hand crafted... you can tell the moment you walk into the shop and start wandering around. When I visited the baker came out from behind the counter and described what each article was and how he made it. I went in to buy a loaf of bread... and left left having spent around 2,000Y... and every item was delicious. Typical of much of Furano, the excellent produce was not the only thing that makes visiting Furano Bakery special, the hospitality of the shop owner also adds to the experience. From the bow of greeting when you enter the shop to the bow of goodbye as he escorts you to the door when you leave you feel like the baker values you and your business.
I'm reviewing furano bar (furano bakery is actually pretty good - it just needs a little more variety). We have found some gems in furano, but unfortunately this wasn't one of them. Décor: in the bar area; it is pretty good. Service: Below average. Timeliness: Very poor, approx 2hrs wait for mains. The Owner (I think) is the only cook - so if there are anymore than a couple of groups, the food comes out piecemeal and takes a long time. Food: The food was above average but the portion sizes were so small eg. 2 small slices of prosciutto was considered an entree. Mains were good, but by the time it came out and coupled with the small portion sizes, we were ready to leave. Price: Drink prices are normal for furano, the food is rather expensive considering above. All up we were all pretty disappointed the experience - I suppose we shouldn't be eating Italian in a small Japanese village - we just wanted a break from rice!
