Really good Cretan food. We particularly love their very tasty lamb. Try Gamopilafo, slowly cooked lamb with rice boiled in the broth, which is traditionally served at Cretan weddings. Another delicacy is Mesitropitakia, small cheese pies with honey (as an entré or dessert). Maybe worht while mentioning that I'm not a Greek national, but have eaten a lot of Greek and some Cretan food, but my wife is Greek and has of course had Cretan food many, many times in her life, and we both love this restaurant and visit every time we're in Athens. Traditional Cretan music every Wednesday. You can also eat outdoors, note that it is pretty close to the main Avenue, although this did not bother us. This restaurant is situated in the area called Agia Paraskevi, a 20 minute taxi drive from the centre of Athens. It's however often easier to get there by Metro if you get off at Nomismatokopio station. 1-2 minute taxi drive from there (the minimum fare, which is 3.20 Euro).
