Stumbled upon this place while looking for a waterfront place to eat in Cadiz. This was as close as we could find. Was a little nervous when the menus were only in Spanish and the waitress spoke very little English, but we muddled through and it turned out splendidly! We tried the octopus and potato salad, the salted cod balls the salted pork risotto and the cordon blue. Every one of them was fabulous! We tried the octopus and potato to be daring but I think it was my favorite. Basically a creamy potato salad with very well cooked octopus on top. It was delicious! Most of the foods can be ordered as tapa or half plates as well as full portions which made it fun to try different things.
This was our fist vist to La Taberna del anteojo and we discovered this place by accident. We arrived Cadiz at 3PM and arrived the restaurant at 3:40pm- borderline late in Spain for lunch. The waitress accepted us with humility and we ordered: Zamburinas (like scallops) , almejas de la plancha (clams), Bacalao (codfish), choco (squid).. damn it.. 100% fresh and perfectly cooked. Unbelievable luck. Seriously, this is a 5 star restaurant masquerading as a 2 star. Go there gringos!
