We made the mistake of diverting off the freeway to eat at La Porchetta in Caroline Springs, thinking we would get a quick meal. The service was the worst (and slowest)we have encountered for years. The floor staff were only serving when prompted by a staff member calling out instructions from behind the bar - or when we called them over to our table to take our order. I even had to follow up on our drink order as the manager (?) and a staff member were too engaged in their conversation to pour drinks. The father and daughter seated 2 minutes ahead of us were eating when we eventually ordered. So not all diners were neglected. Please take some time to train your staff to be attentive to clients. While I don't expect exceptional service at a chain restaurant, I also don't expect to be ignored. The lamb shanks were good and the pizza okay. Popular Italian restaurant opposite our hotel. We walked into the place since it was so crowded during dinner time. Service was fast and kids friendly. Tried their pizzas which were good. Also had a salad which was fresh and well seasoned. The pasta was also very delicious. Many people ordered mains which came in large portions.
As seasoned business travellers, we had been staying at Caroline Springs for many months so decided to venture to somewhere else for dinner. As we wanted pasta, we chose this restaurant knowing full well that it was a chain and would be child friendly. Having made previous visits to others in the chain, we thought we would have reasonable food. We did, but the service was ABYSMAL. From the throwing of three menus on a table we presumed we were sitting there but the waitress kept walking. The drinks order was taken by the only young lady with reasonable manners. Food and later drinks were delivered by staff who didn't smile, didn't speak and seemed to want to be somewhere else. The payment was taken by someone we believed to be the manager/owner/franchisee. Starting with a gruff no Amex when I produced my card I was basically ignored while I handed over my $100+ as he seemed more interested in something in the kitchen. As some of us will have many more weeks at the WestWAters hotyel, we will NOT be back
My family visited the restaurant for a late lunch. Only a few tables were occupied and we did not expect such a long waiting time. The main course was alright - 15 minute wait for a seafood platter and pasta. However, when we ordered for a banana split and waited for more than 40 minutes and then to be told that the order was forgotten ... We were very disappointed. The staff apologised but that was it. We left and warned relatives and friends so they do not end up waiting for nothing just like us.
