This restaurant is only open for limited sittings, generally Friday to Sunday. Our cycle group arranged to call in on a Sunday late morning for coffee (while the restaurant was setting-up for their lunch trade). Each coffee order came with a plate of small cakes - great to get a taster of four different cakes, rather than have to choose one only.
This restaurant is only open on Friday and Saturday night. Buffet style food, well cooked but not as many choices as shown on their website and too expensive at $40 per person. Hungarian dishes not inspiring, nothing unusual that you don't cook at home. Served in a bain marie cafeteria style No labels on the food, asked about this but was told the owner likes to explain the dishes, but where was he? Disappointed in the desserts not at all as per their website, very few choices and not especially Hungarian. The Hungarian beer was very nice though, atmosphere good, lots of regulars.
Had Sunday lunch with a family group for a birthday and it was very cosy and not too noisy. The food was vey tasty with schnitzels, goulash, stuffed cabbages, etc, all very traditional. Once you finished your plate staff would take it away promptly and you could go up and grab a fresh plate and start again.Desserts were very tasty also, pancakes, cake, floating egg islands, etc. Seating was comfortable and room is decked out in Hungarian decore. There is a bar also. Parking and restaurant is at back of main entrance, so it was a bit tricky to find but no big drama.
FOOD: Little cosy buffet set up - from salad, cold meat and cheese, hot food to dessert. All of the food tasted authentic and delicious. Desserts were the highlight - spot on and much better than other European desserts (i.e. French and Italian). ENVIRONMENT: Service was excellent. The place was not packed when we were there on Saturday for lunch. Nice music and atmosphere. VERDICT: Will definitely come back, probably on Friday evenings when they have live music!
