My Wife and I are new residents to the area and are poking around for casual restaurants/Cafes we can confidently revisit. Charlie's won't be revisited. Let's put the weird, worn out , grubby fixtures and fittings to one side- hygiene doesn't seem to be a priority from the messy prep area through to none too clean tables. We took in a bottle of red and were told by the owner they didn't allow BYO I said we were happy to pay corkage - a normal routine for low key suburban eateries of all ethnicities . Charlie was adamant - no BYO . I asked for a wine list - a tired card was presented listing common wines regularly priced under $10.This list doesnt have prices on it -which is just ludicrous . We asked about prices and they represented markups of 300-400%. We passed on the wine and were reluctantly served the requested water We ordered a medium pizza each . Terrible - the base was extraordinarily thick and you could taste the flour - not properly cooked , apart from the curled up burnt crust on each of our pizzas. The poor quality watery toppings had seeped into the floury base creating a soggy mess. It was so wet and squishy , it was impossible to eat in the traditional manner and had to be attacked with knife and fork. I can't remember the last time I left food on the plate , especially when I'm paying for it - we both left more than half our pizzas. Due to the arrogance of the owner , it would be pointless to tackle him on the quality of his pizzas -- we won't be back. !!
We went here with a group of 8 - 4 adults, 4 kids. Walked in off the street, very accomodating, quick delicious meals and we took the leftovers back to the motel to have for lunch the next day on our travels. Reasonably priced.
