I had my doubts upon entering this place as we were the only people there, but don't let that turn you off. The staff were super accommodating and modified the meals as required for the vegetarians in the group without hesitation. I would recommend this hidden gem for absolutely anyone and definitely recommend the laksa.
Visited again for a friend's birthday celebration. We had a group of 20 ... the staff coped so well bringing out all the food fairly close together and looked after our group really well. They were happy to serve a birthday cake which had been brought to the restaurant and just so friendly. We will keep coming back here ...
Chose the banquet option for Cantonese and Malay cuisine - the starters were ordinary - fried Chinese sausage and curry puff . The soups - mushroom and hot n sour were average. The mains were excellent with milder options with the Cantonese banquet and more spicy with the Malay - Fried rice was the best we have eaten for a long time. Our first family visit we will definitely go back
We have been going to the Maple Leaf for in excess of twenty five years! It is a modest little restaurant that in recent times has had a little renovation. This restaurant is always our "go to" when we want a really great meal. Always, always consistent. It has been operated by the same owners all these years. There are lots of specialty dishes on the menu and many recommendations! The satay skewers, the Szechuan prawns and the clay pot chicken are amazing! The staff are either family members or friends, the diners are invariably long time customers, like us that keep coming back, so this makes for a very friendly atmosphere. This is a great restaurant for celebration dinners too. It's not a huge place so make sure you book. Parking at the front of the restaurant is limited but there is plenty of side street parking. Chinese New Year is a great time to eat here!! It's BYO so that's handy too!
