I recently went here to celebrate my wife's birthday. Things hadn't changed much in the 19 years since my last visit-- the staff was warm and friendly (though you may want to brush up on your restaurant Italian, as there's very little English spoken here). Lino, the same waiter who waited on me during the summer I spent in working in Rome back in the 90s was still there, and the food remained wonderful. I highly recommend the carbonara and the la nocetta cream sauce. Both quite good. Fresh ingredients, prepared simply and well, the way good Italian food should be. They also made quite the celebration of my wife's birthday with a lovely desert, candles, dimmed lights and singing. The inside of the restaurant is clean and comfortable, but not extravagant, and the patio is lovely in the warmer months. The staff graciously called us a cab at the end of our meal AND was kind enough to let the cab company know that one of my friends had left his credit card there so we could return and retrieve it--important since our flight out the next morning was at 7 AM. The restaurant manager and our waitress even gave my wife a "La Nocetta" plate, wrapped to take home, to remember our visit. This is one of those little hidden gems tucked away on the outskirts of Rome. It's a cab ride away if you're playing tourist near the city center, but worth it. Go and enjoy!
La Nocetta is an outstanding Italian Restaurant, with great Italian food at very reasonable prices. A very Italian atmosphere with mostly local clients. Try the pasta dish "Bombolotti alla crema di Scampi" , and you will always want to come back for more.
Didn't realise when deciding to visit La Nocetta that it really is more of a Seafood speciallity restaurant - even so the Veal was superb and there was something for everyone. As a non Steak eater and not mad on Pasta or Pizza dishes (I know -why visit It!) I was a little restricted on choice - but I guess I'm not the average traveller when it comes to food. The meals were good and plentiful and the soft drinks were reasonably priced. We even took a large bottle of Pepsi away to go back to the hotel with :) We walked down to La Nocetta as we were staying in the ESH Hotel just around an 8 minute walk down narrow busy dark street with no pavements! Life in your hands comes to mind! Enjoyable enough but was empty when we arrived and only 2 or 3 other tables occupied by the time we left and this was a Friday evening (may have been a little early).
