My husband did a U Turn when he saw this on the side of the road. We brought our kids inside to sample the cookies and see "where the magic happens". Ladies stopped to let us take pics with them. We purchased several kinds of these fabulous shortbread cookies. Don't drive by.
We were driving down the highway with the top and down and smelled these amazing cookies! We pulled over to Donna's and bought a bucket. Mostly shortbread , mac nut. They are really good and the women working in there were very friendly.
If you like cookies like I do...and you are visiting the big island stop in and say hi to the ladies at Donna's cookies, they are crispy, warm and delicious. They gave us free samples and we bought a container of cookies that we ate all week and now I am home and I don't have any with me...sad moment. The ladies were great, friendly and fun to talk with...if you are going between Kona and Hilo make sure you stop.
While driving towards Hilo on Hwy. 19, we came upon this treasure! Not only did we get to taste the various cookies that were being made/packaged, but we also got to use their restroom! The very flaky shortbread cookies included regular shortbread, chocolate chip, Chinese almond, sprinkles, and peanut butter. ALL were great! You might also want to check out the okazuya next door - although they don't let you use their restroom.
