I’ve eaten here on several past trips to Hilo and was looking forward to sharing with my family my little hole in the wall find. We arrived about 30 minutes prior to closing and the food was simply “Nasty”. My son always takes what is left as doggie bag for a midnight snack. Well simple to say he refused to take anything from the table home, electing to scrounge around in Condo refrigerator for midnight snack. My 11 year old Grand-Daughter and 6 year old Grandson asked “why did you bring us to here Grandpa”. After 10 days I still get a sense of “Nasty” in my mouth, when I think about the food.
Oyster sauce chicken cake noodle...WOW! Everything else was good too, but their cake noodle was really, really good. They have "make your own plate" a la Panda Express or Chopstick Express, but if you have the time to sit and eat, order off their menu.
Visit Leung's Chop Suey House if you are looking for tasty food at a reasonable price. This is the place where the locals go to have lunch or dinner either from the hot food line or ordered from the menu. From the hot line, customers can choose one, two, or three entrees with either fried rice or noodles or a half and a half combination. Favorites include the chicken with young corn vegetable medley, sweet sour pork with chunks of carrots and turnip, roast duck, roast pork, and so on. From the menu, my favorite is the char siu chow fun. The fun noodles are wide and are stir fried with char siu, bean sprouts, celery, onions, carrots, and snap peas. A very tasty meal indeed that is made to share with a friend.
