I'd travelled past this unimposing house with the trattoria sign many many times and wondered what was inside. It didnt look much so i never ventured in, until a work dinner took us there. W O W. huge wooden doors opened up to a large, well layed out dining room with glass walls onto the kitchen , which was immaculate and busy all at once. After this welcome surprise, the food didnt disappoint. Antipasto was sublime, the chicken and fish dishes were well cooked and the service was perfect. 20 of us were almost simultaneously eating. i beleive they do wood fired pizza out the back on weekends, which looks like something to try next time drive in and have a look one day. youll be surprised disclaimer - it was free and i didnt look at the prices, so i cant comment on that.
Restaurant came highly recommended. The food is obviously very fresh, sourced locally and seasonal. All thumbs up from me. We had the 3 course meal for 2, for $99. The antipasto plate was nice. Quite small, but flavoursome and texturous. From here it went down hill. The salmon pasta with capers (for 2) was 1 main meal, to be shared. The pasta fresh but whole meal lacked flavour, except overwhelming salt. The main was quail and asparagus with side of kipler potatoes. Very small meal for 2. Lacklustre. Both entree and main sauces were the biggest let down. I would expect sauces for small fresh meals to be mourish. The service was friendly, but missed the mark on lots of standard practices. No pepper on the table and had to chase it down. No water and had to ask. Entree and main were delivered without a word, just dropped on the table. And after 2 hrs and 15min over 2 courses, we weren't staying for desert.
