This prawn noodle outlet is a stall inside a coffee shop located at the junction of Carpmael and Crane Road, I prefer the dry version, with the tasty soup served separately. I also like to order pork ribs to go with the prawn noodles. Street-side parking is possible at the few available lots; it is safer (and a peace of mind to enjoy your food) to park your car at the nearby HDB (electronic) parking lots. Inconsiderate parking and complaints from the residents of private estate have ensured that the traffic wardens visit and conduct regular checks.
The best part of the prawn noodles has to be the chilli and the soup stock. If you are a fan of spicy food, order the dry version. The chilli adds a kick to the otherwise normal prawn noodles. The soup is another draw. Strong and robust, good enough to finish in no time. Just wish the stall owner can be more generous with the soup...
Do not expect much in terms of service as this is a coffeeshop, but the food is worth the trip. This stall is very popular with the locals and it is easy to see why - the rich and tasty broth. Place your order at the stall and wait to be served. Noodles are al dente and chewy, and they serve quite a number of sliced prawns. You can also request pieces of pork, which is also used in the making of the broth. Once the noodles arrive, just dust some chilli on and proceed to enjoy. The same coffeeshop also has a good byrani stall which serves a chicken byrani, with vegetable side dishes and papadam, all on a banana leaf, for only $6 upwards. Our usual visit includes sharing a byrani, and then demolishing a bowl of noodles. Scrumptious!
