Right across the road from our hotel, the D Varee resort in Hua Hin lies quite a hidden yet amazing eatery which if you even walked past, you'd more than likely totally miss seeing this place. This is something which makes this find here more than amazing as it is! The food is cheap, tasty, and cooked so well that you'd be crazy to give it a miss. This is real Thai food at its very best on display here. Serving sizes are slightly larger than what you'd expect for the price you pay. Usually cheaper dishes are quite small in size, therefore you'd need to order quite a few of them. This is not so much the case here as you would find that the price is extremely cheap for the size of the dishes and the quality you get. I don't have much other to add than I've been traveling to Thailand for a good 15 years now and this is definitely one of the very best you'll find here. Be early as there's always a crowd. Usually, for good reason, too.
This restaurant is fantastic. Right near the G Resort and Mall in Hua Hin (where I stayed), so it was one of the first restaurants we stopped at when going out hunting for food in the evening. Someone leaving the restaurant told us we could stop looking at the menu and just come right in because it's the best food in Hua Hin, and I'm glad we took him at his word, because he was right! Huge portions (almost too big!) of the most flavourful food we had in Hua Hin. Spicy minced pork was a standout, as well as the tom yum, but everything was delicious. We tried other restaurants but kept coming back to this one, as nothing else compared. As some people have said the service can be less than attentive and not always smiling, but honestly who's in a rush in Thailand? The best part about this restaurant? Not only was it the best food we had in Hua Hin, but the cheapest as well! Locals seemed to be coming from all over the city to eat here, so to me that's a good sign.
Me and my husband revisited this restaurant cos we had an excellent memory from our first time there. The food were still very delicious, especially the Tom Yum Clear Pork Soup, the Papaya Salad and the Thai Minced Pork (Northern Thai Style). The location of this restaurant is just a few steps away from the Village Market in Hua Hin. The place is very spacious and clean. No a/c though cos the restaurant is an open area but you won't feel very hot. The price, I would have to say, is very cheap with food that delicious. My husband and I spent only 620 Baht (HKD140) for our lunch there and we had 4 dishes, a bowl of soup, sticky rice, a few beer and fresh coconut water as well. I definitely will recommend this restaurant if your in Hua Hin.
I had been really looking forward to this as we love spicy food, in particular isaan. I was a bit dubious on walking in as it all loooked tired and a bit grubby but thought we'd give it a shot. Our waitress seemed to come from the land of grumpy rather than the land of smiles,, the beer although very cheap(65 bath for a large Chang) was warm and the food was as follows: very good spicy soup, average roast chicken and rubbery over coked squid. I spent most of the night in the bathroom and all I can say is we won't be going back but it helped me lose some weight. If you want good Isaan food go to the Isaan restaurant in the basement of Market Village called Tun Lhaem.
